Just a little warning before you begin reading. It’s been a really light couple of days in terms of news, so there’s not much to write about.
They did it again! You can now listen to the second prank on “Alvarito” Arbeloa’s poor grandmother Soledad! ¡Anda Ya! aired the second prank yesterday, and they introduced it like this: “after the success of “Alvarito’s” first joke on his grandmother, the whole team will now gang up against the grandmother: San Bernardino, the great-aunt who will be looking for Isidora, Arbeloa, Marisol (Soledad’s daughter and Álvaro’s mother) and the mystery Pepa.” You would think that Soledad would be more suspicious when answering the phone, but…
I have no pictures of Soledad, so I’ll just re-use these of her very hot (and not very nice) grandson. But Soledad is right, he is the best.
This prank’s premise has San Bernardino’s real great-aunt calling up Soledad, and asking for “Isidora.” After Soledad tells her that there’s no one named Isidora there, the great-aunt asks her who she is, and keeps asking as if Soledad were the one who called her, even asking her what number she called at one point. And so they exchange a lot of “who are yous” and “ehs?” The great-aunt keeps asking “eh?” making Soledad repeat herself each time about five times, each time getting progressively louder. The best part is when the great-aunt asks who she’s speaking with, and Soledad gives a fake name (Magdalena).
In the second part, the great-aunt calls once more, and Soledad once again identifies herself as Magdalena. Then Alvarito calls his grandmother, and she complains to him. While talking to the great-aunt, she starts cursing her out (yo soy Magdalena, ya se lo he dicho, ¡coño!). Then Álvaro pretends that it’s Soledad who has called him (“I didn’t call anyone, you called my mobile”) and asks why she’s shouting. She also says to Álvaro, I think that woman is stupid. Then Marisol gets in the act, also pretending that Soledad called her house, and the mystery Pepa does the same. After the incident is revealed as a prank, San Bernardino and Álvaro put the blame on each other as being the author behind the new prank. To end, they ask Soledad to send her regards and a big kiss to all the listeners, which shes does, and she also adds, “I hope everyone has a grandmother like me.” She also laments that she’s not on TV, because she knows how popular she is at the moment. Soledad is such a character!!
What a start: Hamit Altintop’s back will be operated on in Germany on June 27. The injury was diagnosed after he felt some pain, and he didn’t respond to treatment, which is why surgery is needed. The estimated period of recovery is three to four months (!); the injury is similar to the one that Gonzalo Higuaín had. How come no one discovered this before he was signed? He did have to go through a medical check-up, so why wasn’t this diagnosed? He already had back problems throughout last season, which kept him out of games. (And who’s paying for the surgery?) I’m losing faith in Madrid’s medical staff… and bad memories of a certain Jonathan Woodgate are re-surfacing. Marca reports that Altintop may still travel with the team to Los Angeles so that he can adapt to the dynamics of the group.
Only Esteban would tweet something like this: his tweet today said, “the next time you raise your eyebrows in disbelief, let it be directed at the world and not at me.” I’m pretty sure that not too many people raise their eyebrows at Esteban in disbelief, although there might be a fair number of people who raise their eyebrows in disbelief at how perfect he is. Reader Marie informs us that this quote is from the lyrics of this song.
Add Jesé to the list: Jesé Rodríguez will travel with the team to the U.S. for their summer tour. He’ll join his new Castilla teammates (he’s been promoted from Juvenil A) Tomás Mejías, Jesús Fernández, Jorge Casado, Nacho and Joselu on this part of the tour. One of Jesé’s biggest supporters is none other than Aitor Karanka, who coached him on the U-17 team a couple of years ago. The canteranos who won’t be there are MFC ABMM, Pablo Sarabia, Dani Carvajal and Álex, as they will be playing with the U-19 national team during these days.
Speaking of the summer tours: the Philadelphia Union has released a roster supposedly furnished by Madrid for their friendly on July 23. However, this doesn’t seem to take into account that some players will be playing in the Copa América, as Ángel di María, Eze Garay and Fernando Gago are included, though they’ll be on duty with Argentina on this day (should Argentina make it to the final. Even if Argentina doesn’t, they will be given some rest). Curiously enough, Pipita is not on the list. Esteban Granero is also listed as an “attacker.” And if this list is to be believed, then Madrid won’t be selling Lass, Garay, Callejón, Mateos, Kaká or Drenthe, and Hamit Altintop will make a miraculous recovery in time to travel with the team!
P.S. If Neymar is the type of person that kicks rivals players when they are on the ground and participates in fights, then I really don’t want him (I didn’t want him to begin with, at least not now, but this clinches the case for me). He has a track record filled with these types of incidents…
