Even the wind loves him… seriously, someone needs to snatch him up to endorse hair products…

Madrid trained yesterday afternoon with an eye on their Liga debut, to come this weekend against Zaragoza.  Álvaro Arbeloa, Hamit Altintop and Sami Khedira were absent due to injury, and Cristiano Ronaldo as well as he was in Monaco for the UEFA event there, so that left 19 footballers for José Mourinho to boss around, including one canterano, Tomy Mejías.  Those four players who accumulated the most minutes in the Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu – Xabi, Sergio, Coentrão and Marcelo – did recovery work, with Marcelo working out normally, although he had to leave the game after suffering a knock to the right ankle.  The team will get a break today, with no training session.  The next one is scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:30h.

Recess or a training session?

While they were training, the Champions League draw was going on, and when all the dust had cleared, Madrid found out that it would be facing Lyon (again), Ajax (again) and Dinamo Zagreb (for the first time) in the group stage.  The first game will be against the Croatian club on Sept. 14 in Zagreb, with two home games to follow, against Ajax on Sept. 27 and Lyon on Oct. 18.

Krunoslav Jurčić, Dinamo’s coach, was ecstatic with the results, telling UEFA that “getting Real Madrid in the group stage is the best thing that could have happened to Dinamo. My dream came true; I really wanted to get Real Madrid and José Mourinho.”  Given how excited he was, do you think he’ll ask Mou for a photograph or an autograph after the game?

Iker’s reaction to the draw was, “good Champions League draw!  We already know a lot about Lyon, and Ajax as well.  We played against them last year, the former in the round of 16 and the latter in the group stage.  Dinamo Zagreb completes the group.  Perhaps the Spanish team that had the worst luck was Villarreal [Diego López said, “perhaps this is the most difficult group in the history of the Champions League” – the group is made up of Villarreal, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Napoli].  The good times are beginning!  Let’s go!!!!!!!!!!”  Meanwhile, Sergio tweeted that he was “content” with the group and “as always, with maximum respect for our rivals.”

Meanwhile, Nacho was excited about his call-up to the U-21 team (and maybe this weekend’s game), as he really wants to see his former teammate “Juanky” or “El Galgo” (both are nicknames for Juan Carlos) again.  Adorable!  I love it when our canteranos maintain friendships despite changes in teams.  Another recent example is David Mateos and Juan Mata – David tweeted, “congratulations Juanín, you deserve it crack, I hope everything goes well in England, a hug,” or how Fran Rico has been tweeting with a bunch of his former Castilla compañeros.

I am kind getting bored with Lyon! Do we have to face them every year!
I feel for Villarreal, this group can’t get any harder, overall I didn’t like the draw, it is sad to see one of these 2 clubs leaving!

Well, even though is very boring to play Lyon again (again!!), I’m happy about it because it gives me an excuse to see Yoann Gourcuff again, the only non-Real Madrid player I have a crush on 😉 Last year I loved when he almost fell on our bench, I can only hope he does another thing like that this time ;D
