Boys will be boys, as we saw during the presentation of this season’s Audi cars at the Jarama Circuit several days ago. Our boys combined for some great moments, though I did miss the presence of Marcelo and Gonzalo Higuaín, who are recovering from their respective injuries.
Prior to receiving their new cars, the boys got to test their driving prowess around the circuit. It looks like some of them didn’t do really well…
It’s no wonder that Iker didn’t trust his teammates, with drivers like these!
In addition, some of them were also brave enough to be Marc Gené’s co-pilot as he sped around in a Real Madrid-themed R8 Lemans race car. Iker wasn’t one of them. He said, “I got dizzy driving around with Jesús, so imagine what that would be like…” He also confessed for the second year in a row that he does not like speed. Pepe said after that experience, “that scared the shit out of me,” while MFC Álvaro Borja Morata Martín said, “my legs are shaking.” And Xabi had a little trouble extracting himself from the co-pilot seat.
More fun moments from the day…
There were also several speeches before the boys got the keys to their new Audis, and they must have been quite boring, judging by the actions of the players. First, Kaká tried to tickle MFC Álvaro Borja Morata Martín, but it didn’t work, as ABMM didn’t even notice. Who did notice was Karim Benzema, who turned around to look at Kaká and tell him he is such an amateur at this kind of stuff. I also love the look and little head shake of disapproval! Following that, he attempted to show Kaká how the pros do it.
That wasn’t the end of things for poor MFC ABMM, as Karim made some repeated attempts to bother him, which Sami found quite amusing. Then Mesut decided to join in. He was really proud of himself for his stealth.
After several attempts, he finally got a reaction. Seeing that, Sami decided to try his luck with Sergio, but got nothing. Those speeches must have been really boring!
José Mourinho was in attendance for this act, though he didn’t seem to be at all happy to be there, or to receive the use of an Audi car for one year.
The conclusion of the act came with the presentation of the cars. As always, there was a lot of teasing amongst the boys. As Raúl Albiol got into his car, Álvaro Arbeloa shouted, “puppet, your wife chose that one!” And when Xabi got into his car, “that’s a car for a grandfather!” was heard.
Meanwhile, Sergio Ramos somehow lost his keys prior to receiving his car. He searched around inside the vehicle for them, before an Audi employee came up to him and handed them over, from wherever Sergio had left them. This made Iker laugh at him, but Mou didn’t find it amusing at all.
Gifs mostly from these two videos.

And of course, Xabi Alonso was the best car model at Jarama that day. The umbrella even adds to the elegance, instead of detracting from it.
A week earlier, the team chose their picks for this year’s FIFA FIFPro World XI, by filling out their ballots.
The scene was reminiscent of a classroom. Those who have to be well-behaved (captains, rookies) sat in the front, while the jokers gathered in the back.
If the ballot were an exam, then Raúl Albiol would be the one who didn’t study and had to beg answers from his classmates, Gonzalo Higuaín would be the one who didn’t study and just decided to draw a picture instead of filling in any answers, Kaká would be the one who did study and who knows all the answers, Ángel di María would be the one who forgot everything he learned and just nervously stares at the clock, panicking over the amount of time he has left, Iker would be the one who studied but can’t remember anything so is just filling in the exam as best as he can and as quickly as he can, writing down everything he knows, and Mesut Özil would be the one who’s all like, fuck that, I don’t care about this exam, I know I’m passing (or else it would be, to hell with them, I filled in “Sergio Ramos” for every position).
It’s very clear that Gonzalo and Karim practice these smiles at night when they’re alone in their rooms during the concentración for photo ops like these.
And of course, Xabi Alonso was the best voting model at Valdebebas that day.
