four moments

February 4, 2013

Well, there’s nothing good that can be said about Saturday’s game, because everything is along the lines of “Granada won without taking a single shot between the goalposts” or “Madrid’s 39-year winning streak against Granada has been snapped.”  Nothing good happened at all during the game, so here are a few moments before and after the game.

We had everyone confused about which bench to sit at, as Granada’s new coach Lucas Alcaraz is superstitious and decided to start sitting his team on the bench on the right side (facing the field) when his predecessor had chosen the left one.  For Calleti and Chori, that meant heading towards what they thought would be their bench, getting directed towards the other, and then having to return to the original one.  They got settled in, only to find out they were still at the wrong one.

The warm-up exercises looked a bit like a dance, especially when performed by Xabi Alonso.  Over on the bench, another episode of The Marcelo Show, starring Marcelo and co-starring Karim Benzema, Michael Essien and José Callejón, was airing.

After the game, one kid rushed up to Cristiano.  Cris held out his arm in welcome, hugged him and then told the security guards to go easy on him.  I love that!  Seeing how easy that was, another kid ran across the field to get to Cris, and was rewarded with a pat on the head.  The first kid then ran up again, apparently because he just couldn’t get enough of our Cristiano.

I love that attitude, especially because Cris had to be really upset in that moment with how the game had turned out.  He didn’t petulantly kick the ball into the stands or spit at anyone.  Instead, he hugged children.

During the Copa del Rey game last week, there was even a fan who had come to the Bernabéu dressed in a Barcelona shirt to cheer on her team.  However, when she saw Cris flying towards her, she completely forgot about her loyalties and could not resist trying to grab him.  That’s the kind of adoration Cristiano Ronaldo inspires.

This game has me wanting to cry at the end of it.

I hope Cris is ok. He really does need to rest for a while. Neither does he ever get enough of credit for being such an amazing person.

Can we just skip the rest of the league matches. I will watch them, because I can not miss them, but still… 😦

I love Cris so much, he doesn’t deserve image he gets! he is a great person.

game is unexplainable, but but but we tend to play badly in liga the years we win ucl, so am still optimistic about this season

After this game I was speechless – and not the good kind.
It’s like the team has given up, they’re not fighting anymore in la liga. I’m fully aware that we are far, far behind Barcelona but we still need the three points and Barcelona will lose points (like they did last and this weekend) and then we should be there breathing down their neck. We’re Real Madrid – we NEVER give up – we keep fighting until the end no matter how poor our chances are!!!

Anyway, I hope Cris will be rested and not play for Portugal, it’s only a friendly and we need him to be fully fit to beat Barcelona and Man Utd.
I hope the international break is just what the doctor ordered…..

    ¡Hala Madrid!

That was a nice thing to do from Cris! especially given the mental state he must have been in… it was a bad, bad game

“He didn’t petulantly kick the ball into the stands or spit at anyone. Instead, he hugged children.” Best part.

Even though I should have been sad I don’t know why I wasn’t as upset as I usually am, The only thing I felt bad about was the Ronaldo scored the own goal.

He’s got so much expectations for himself that I know he’s not going to let himself live this one down. How Cristiano reacted to the kids that ran the pitch was cute.

i am still dumbfounded at what happened between the end of last season and this season. i wish i could figure it out, what caused this massive shift — injuries? bad luck? something else? i love my boys and i love my team, and i always will, win or lose, but god … it’s horrible to watch what this season has turned into! 😦
