following Real Madrid…

all set for Celta!

Just a short “all set for…” post.  Real Madrid takes on Celta today (19h) at the Balaídos.  We have already played Celta three times this season, once in the Liga and twice in the Copa.  Cristiano scored in each of those games for a total of five goals (including a hat trick) against Celta.  And consider these statistics: Celta has taken 92 shots at goal this season (the lowest out of all the teams).  Cristiano alone has taken 82.  Celta has only scored 25 goals this season.  Cristiano has scored 24.  But my favorite Cristiano vs. Celta moment is not the goals, but the concern he showed Hugo Mallo after the game on Jan. 9.

During the game, Hugo tore his left ACL on a play, which effectively ruled him out for the rest of the season.  After the game, Cris visited Celta’s locker room to see how Hugo was, and gave him his shirt.  Hugo said at the time, “it’s something that I will always remember; it was very important for me.  I was lying on the bed and all of a sudden I saw him and I said, ‘ostrás, it’s Ronaldo.’  He sat down next to me, he talked to me, he was very friendly towards me, as if he were a lifelong friend, and he exchanged shirts with me.  He was spectacular with me.”

That Cris… again showing how arrogant and cocky he is!

Anyway, the team trained the last three days to prepare for this upcoming game.

They traveled to Vigo on Saturday evening, accompanied by RMC, who is playing Coruxo in the same city today at 16:30h.

After RMC’s game, they’ll head to the Balaídos to watch their “big brothers” take on Celta, and then the two teams will return to Madrid together.  Good job with the logistics!

In Vigo, Madrid’s only gallego signed autographs for the fans, along with Xabi Alonso.

“Kids and adults love them so.”

And while Xabi and Diego were busy meeting with the fans, Gonzalo Higuaín was hanging out with Raúl Albiol, probably in the latter’s hotel room, since that seems to normally be where everyone congregates, much to Chori’s dismay.

RNE has reported that Mesut Özil is the latest player to have driving troubles.  When is it going to end?  According to the radio station, the Guardia Civil stopped Mesut for making an illegal turn last Saturday.  He had to pay a 500 euro fine, and six points were taken away from his driver’s license.  He follows Karim Benzema and Marcelo in having brushes with the law.  And if you think back to the day when Iker injured his hand, he drove himself to and from the hospital wearing a cast on his left hand.  A driving school subsequently called on the Directorate General of Traffic to fine him, since you are not supposed to drive like that.  The DGT denied the request.

To avoid ending on a bad note, here are two recent photos of Enzo shared by his very proud parents!
