Marca has some news on Madrid’s plans for this summer! Fans in Turkey, Sweden and the United States are in luck, while those in Asia will have to wait.
According to the newspaper, the team will once again be making the United States, concretely the campus of UCLA, its headquarters for the pre-season. Before traveling to the U.S., Madrid will be making a stop in Istanbul to play friendly matches on July 22 and July 24 against Galatasaray, plus an English or German team. Then it will be on to Goteborg to face PSG in another friendly. And then on July 28, the United States stage will kick off.
Madrid will play four friendlies in the U.S. The first will take place on Aug. 1 in Los Angeles. That will be followed by games on Aug. 4 in Phoenix, Aug. 7 in Washington and Aug. 11 in Miami. On Aug. 12, the team will return to Madrid and finish out the pre-season in Spain, where they will (fingers crossed) hopefully be preparing for the Supercopa de España and the Supercopa de Europa.
Any of you going to make plans to see Madrid?
The newspaper also reports that Emirates is set to become the shirt sponsor next season, after paying 24-26 million euros a year for that privilege. The presentation of the agreement will take place on April 30, and the contract is reported to be for four seasons. Bwin will continue its link with the club, but as a secondary sponsor.
