spotted yesterday…
The news round-up from yesterday. In general, a great day in terms of players, a not so great day in terms of fashion.
One. Cristiano presented his new boots, the spotted CR7 Safari ones.
It was once again emphasized that they were made to his exact specifications, and Cris also said he chose the design himself: “Safari expresses my style. It gives me everything I need to elevate my game.” So, I think we can assume that he asked Nike to incorporate the leopard spot design, which most of you don’t seem to like. I’m still waiting to see how it’ll look with his Madrid kit before giving an opinion, but apparently we won’t get to see that until next weekend, during the derbi madrileño.
But I do love animal prints, and going on a safari was one of those most amazing experiences I’ve had, so I might end up liking these after all!
Anyway, at least Cris toned down his own outfit for the launch yesterday, since I guess he figured all focus should be on his flamboyant new boots and not on a flamboyant outfit (that belt buckle, had it not been half-covered by Cris’ shirt, would have stolen the show).
See a video of Cris thanking his fans (and winking of course) here, get an up close look at the shoes here, and hear Cris talk about the current state of things at Madrid here.
Two. Sergio Ramos was seen filming a spot for TVE for the “un juguete, una ilusión” (a toy, a hope) campaign yesterday. Watch the behind the scenes here. The campaign sells pens, with all funds going to make and send toys to developing countries, since the UN has recognized that all children have the right to play.
What a great gesture from Sergio, but what a horrible outfit! I’m not into that denim-on-denim look at all!
Sergio also tweeted about this: “Hi friends, today I filmed a spot for RTVE’s “un juguete, una ilusión” campaign. I invite you all to purchase the pen to help children that don’t have toys. With regards to my injury, I’m good and ready to incorporate myself into the dynamic of the team. A big hug.”
And “[the pen] only costs five euros and we will help thousands of children to get toys.”
Three. Meanwhile, Royston Drenthe is still hoping that Madrid will let him play in the game this weekend, saying that FP still has time to remove the penalty. He also hinted that he may end up paying the penalty of €2 million himself. In the video, you can see just the top of what I’m sure is a questionable outfit.
By the way, Madrid has never lost in the Rico Pérez (where Hércules plays). They’ve come away with 15 wins and four ties in their 19 visits.

(The badly dressed section ends here).
Four. And Arbeloa was spotted on twitter, like always.
¡¡¡I LOVE, LOVE THIS!!!
User “Angel_DM22” (whose account no longer exists) wrote to Álvaro, asking “please confirm to everyone that I’m the real [Ángel di María]. Álvaro’s response? “No, you aren’t.” ¡JAJAJA!
Five. And the Real Madrid Foundation announced that one of our favorite madridistas Rafa Nadal will receive an extraordinary award at their annual gala next Thursday, where they’ll hand out their Premios Alma. Alfredo di Stéfano will also receive an award. José Mourinho and the entire first team are expected to attend, and they’ll likely wear their team suites, which they do look good in.
Six. And now it’s on to Xabi, who hardly ever puts a wrong foot forward in the fashion stakes!
He was spotted out with Nagore and Jontxu, taking a walk and picking up a few things in their neighborhood, Salamanca. Pictures via Dona da Bola; rest of them can be found here!
Seriously, how is it possible that Xabi is so perfect?
Seven. In other good news, Salamanca player Miguel García was released from the hospital yesterday!
There’s nothing like being certain there will be a reason for hysterical laughter during a match; I can’t wait until the boots make their debut on the pitch!
It’s very sweet of Sergio to take part in such a campaign. However, my mind’s still stuck on the idea of him giving me toys 😉 *ahem*..
Lol! What kind of response was this impostor expecting from Alvaro?! Speaking of tweets, Alvaro tweeting something I found quite amusing and adorable this morning, but I won’t mention the words in case you write about it in a new post.
The Alonso family is definitely one of my favorites! I love Nagore, but the outfit’s a little clumsy this time. Best dressed is doubtlessly Xabi; however, I’m torn between who’s the most charming creature on the planet: Xabi or Jon 😀
You know, speaking of questionable… or maybe that’s not the right word, anyway, I was thinking about the different boots all the players have been wearing this season the other day. Wasn’t there one that was pink? And I think that was made by Nike too? I was watching American football the other day and if you ever happen to catch it, you’ll notice that all the players, at least the ones sponsored by Nike, are wearing pink cleats, pink gloves, and using a special ball in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. And, maybe this is weird, but it suddenly hit me that maybe Nike extended that to their other lines. Making a pink version of their other products for Breast Cancer Awareness, I mean.
Or that Nike just wanted to make pink boots just for the hell of it, which actually makes more sense in my mind. I’m not sure whether the footballers who wore/are wearing pink boots are conscious of it, like they’re wearing in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness and not being forthcoming about it. Mainly because they could just be wearing pink boots for the hell of it. Which makes more sense to me, because why not? And also because I wasn’t sure if Breast Cancer Awareness Month (which is in October here in the states) was something that was celebrated worldwide (like maybe other countries celebrate it at different times… or maybe not at all) But I thought hey, that might be a pretty good explanation/correlation for the pink boots.
Whew. That was actually a lot longer than I thought it might be. Sorry for the long comment. Just thought I’d put my thoughts out there. Great blog, by the way, unamadridista. It really brightens my day.
Maybe you’re right. Pep had a little pink ribbon (that breast cancer logo) pinned on his suit during Barca games. Maybe they all are showing their support in their own way aka pink boots XD
1) Sergio – a sweet a nice gesture with this pen advertisement! But what an outfit! I felt like the Serhio-Time-machine transported me to the deep 80-ties! (but his cute little face makes up for the outfit a bit)
2) Xabi -the whole family just looks gorgeous. what else can I say, I wonder how his daughter looks like but I am sure she’s a classy baby-girl and cute too. And the man himself – white T-shirt and jeans had never looked more awesome. I am starting to wonder if he even would make Serhio’s outfit look good 😉
Love the Alonso family!
jajajajajaja ‘badly dressed section ends here’
At least the denim isn’t appliqued and distressed? Young Sergio rocked a serious(ly awful) jean jacket collection, if I remember correctly…
Fortunately for Cris, the boots look way less bad from a distance. I may be able to tolerate them after all, as long as there are no close-ups.
Álvaro dissing fake Di María: priceless. Just shot him down like whoa…
And lastly: work it, Xabi! How does he make EVERYTHING look so good? And so easy? Jeans, tee, white sneakers, but still such a GQMF! (Also, love Nagore’s – or Xabi’s? – taste in toiletries. Aveda is amazing!)
Cris definitely didn’t pick the design, because Nike have used the exact same design in 1987 in one of their sneaker collections, and the main designer for Cris’s shoe explains in a Nike video that they revisited that design in creating these boots. When they say it’s designed to Cristiano’s exact specifications they most likely mean that he tried it out I gave them feedback on how it felt and performed(i.e. how fast he felt, how stable it was, etc.) and they then went back and tweaked it to be more to his liking. Personally, I like them because they’re so different. I’ve never seen the fuss about football boots before cause they mostly look so mundane, but this definitely catch your attention whether you like them or not, which I guess is exactly what Nike wanted as their motto for these boots is “Be Fast, Be Seen”. He’ll definitely be seen.
Sergio… there are so many conflicting shades of blue in that outfit… terrible! Yet he is still my favorite…
Hahaaa Arbeloa’s Twitter… his “¡Bueeenossss díaaaaaaassssss!” made me laugh out loud when I got online this morning.
XABI. I don’t understand. Can he please instruct his teammates on where to find reasonable denim and belts?? Less is more, less is more!!
Another video of Sergio behind the scenes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O9XSIObZqw
I dont know what he’s saying but of course I dont mind 😉
Whoa! One of the words he said sounded mildly identical to my name! Yes, I almost had a little “accident”.. Thanks Maisoun! And I gotta say, I look forward to seeing that little “wet Ramos” thumbnail every post! 😀
Lmao “mildly identical” whatever works for you right? 😉 I mean his ‘Just above you know where’ tattoo has an ‘M’ in it…and what starts with an ‘M’? Uhh my name! So you hear your name being called and I see my initials in his tattoo, its all good!
haha I look forward to posting everyday just so I can see him magically appear *Ping* “Look at me. Im Sexio. This is my water bottle and now Im wet.” ;D
Exactly! Work with what you’ve got 😉 whenever I’m lonely, I’ll just play 1:43-44 over, and over, and over again. Ohh the M tattoo! Damn, I have an exam in less than two hours. But now that you’ve referred to anything Sexio’s bod-related, looks like all I’ve crammed in my head will be clouded by *ahem* certain images..
Lol! Spot on dialogue, but we’re probably gonna need a Spanish translation ’cause we all know what his English is like.
Ok, hold on, WHAT IS YOUR NAME?! LMAO because Im playing 1:43-1:44 over and over and cant get it and its driving me CRAZY! I thought it would be fun to guess but its really not …but I’ll give you my guesses anyways 😉 is your name Vita or Sara?…
Sorry for putting Sexio in your head at this inopportune time! I know what you mean, in my figure drawing class I used to like giving all the gross ass models “abs like Sexio” 😀
hmmmm…Sexio is lucky I’ve been so “patience” with him, I think he needs me as a tutor I’ll get the job done 😉
Oops, my bad it’s actually 1:44-45. It’s the only prominent word he says, my name’s Arabic so I have a hunch you’ll be able to guess 😉
LOL at what you do with the “gross ass models”!!! I don’t have the patience to draw people whatsoever, but if it meant turning men into Sergio lookalikes then I’ll be all over that sketch pad like a plaid shirt on Iker!
No way, if I was tutoring him, the job would NOT get done *ahem* 😉
Ok now I reanalyzed the clip 😉 and what Im thinking your name is…..drumroll please!!!! Kawthar? am I way off? lol
I should take a sculpture class so I could have a life size marble statue of Sexio, I could have a whole show of Anatomy de Sexio haha
See if your tutoring Sergio all you need to do is teach him two words only…”Marry me?” Grab a witness and call it a day 😉 then you can spend the rest of your lives in peace, love, and confusion!
YES! It’s Kawther* 😀 and doesn’t it sound like he’s really saying it?! My heart flutters every time I hear it *sigh*..
LOL! Sexio should’ve went as Michelangelo’s David this Halloween (minus the fig leaf of course).
Lol, Maisoun, you crack me up! I seriously need to hire you as my life planner 😉
Ha! I was right!!! It really does sound like he’s calling your name….lucky B**** :p
You should just shorten the clip so all you hear is “Kawther Kawther Kawther” lmao I would do it…and change my name to Kawther ;D
If Sergio’s going as ‘David’ then I need to find out what Halloween party he’s GOING to, Im there!!!!
“Lol, Maisoun, you crack me up!” Likewise 😉
I cant be your life planner! The quickie marriage is MY life plan!!! =O hahaha
Xabi is so perfect
